What is Frieze Carpet?
Frieze is often compared to shag carpeting due to its long fibers. Differing from shag, frieze carpet is typically comprised of skinnier threads, which makes it appear less bulky and heavy. This flooring material is made up of twisted fibers that tend to curl in on themselves, flattening out the surface of the floor and creating an extremely soft surface to walk on. The extremely long fibers of frieze will provide a fun and unique aesthetic in any room.
Benefits of Frieze Carpet
Besides being a soft, comfortable surface on which to walk, frieze carpet is beneficial for a number of other reasons. Because its fibers fold over on themselves, frieze carpet is great at hiding dirt and debris, as well as for standing up to high levels of foot traffic. The flooring will avoid looking squashed as the threads move about and are jostled back and forth by walking feet. While the long threads of frieze will conceal dust and other debris from view, it may ultimately require some in-depth cleaning.
Where to Use Frieze
Because frieze carpeting is so durable, it works great in high traffic areas of the home such as the living room. Due to its ability to hide dirt and debris, it is best utilized in a space that may frequently become cluttered. Hallways are another great place to use frieze. It will stand up well to traversing feet and will look great in those areas of the house that you don’t tend to vacuum as often.
